Rapper Snoop Dogg knows how to get high. But neither he nor any of his usual collaborators have been higher than his new partner-in-rhyme.

Or older, for that matter. It's 79-year-old astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who, as a lunar module pilot on famed spacecraft Apollo 11, has the distinction of being the second person to walk on the moon.

"Buzz has got the biggest buzz on the streets right now," Snoop told USA Today about his new homie. "He's got Talib Kweli and [me] in the studio with him, and I only work with the best."

Aldrin, who invited Snoop, Soulja Boy, and Kweli to join him in the studio to shoot a video for his new single, "Rocket Experience," is considerably more modest when it comes to assessing his skills: "I'm not too good at carrying a tune, but I do have rhythm," he said. The lyrics for the song detail the first lunar landing, which will celebrate its 40-year anniversary next month.

The motivation behind Aldrin's song "Rocket Experience" is not to launch Aldrin's music career into the stratosphere, but rather to promote science to the next generation: "I want kids interested in space," Aldrin explained. "It's their future." Added Snoop: "[Aldrin] pushes kids to achieve their dreams."

And though the rapper may understand the way Aldrin works, the astronaut admitted it's not always mutual. "Snoop had this great hand language going as he sang, which was hard for me," he said.

Aw, Buzz. Hand language! Funny. But funnier still is the "making of" video that accompanies the single. The highlights: Quincy Jones raving about Aldrin's "groove," Aldrin dissing Auto-Tune, and Talib Kweli comparing rap's East Coast versus West Coast feud to that of earth walkers versus moon walkers. (Aldrin insists "I don't have any beef with the earth walkers.")

Buzz Aldrin's "Rocket Experience" single is available now on iTunes. Proceeds from sales of the song will go to three charities, including the astronaut's ShareSpace Foundation.
