Smiths to Reunite? Yes. No. Maybe

Will the Brit rockers earn gazillions to play Coachella? It depends whose "sources" you ask.

Stop me if you've heard this one before: Despite protestations to the contrary, rumors are resurfacing that legendary Brit rockers the Smiths are planning to reform -- this time, for 2009's Coachella Music Festival.

According to British newspaper The Sun, the four original members are close to signing a deal -- thanks to frontman Morrissey's new manager, former MCA Records honcho Irving Azoff. "The buzz around the people who used to work for the band is they could play Coachella for a ludicrous amount of money," a source told the paper. "It's closer than it's ever been. The split was a messy affair, but time's a healer."

Just hours after this morning's news, however, NME.com reported that "sources" close to both the band and the festival are denying the reunion.

Seriously, guys, are you or aren't you? All this back and forth is crushing our hearts. Let the roller-coaster ride stop!
