Sleater-Kinney Are Returning With Their First New Album in a Decade

sleater-kinney, new album, no cities to love, reunite

It’s actually happening: Sleater-Kinney have officially reunited and announced the release of their first album in 10 years, No Cities to Love, due out January 20. The trio — which consists of members Corin Tucker, Carrie Brownstein, and Janet Weiss — recorded the album in secret earlier this year, and teased the reunion last week when they included a mysterious white 7″ featuring a brand new song in their career-spanning box set. (Brownstein must’ve been smiling on the inside when she coyly hinted a possible reunion in an interview with Stereogum way back in January.)

The group’s label, Sub Pop, promises that Sleater-Kinney’s eighth full-length will be the their “most explosive” music yet. “We sound possessed on these songs,” Brownstein said in a statement, “willing it all — the entire weight of the band and what it means to us — back into existence.”

No Cities to Love is the long-awaited follow-up to 2005’s The Woods and the first Sleater-Kinney album since the band went on hiatus in 2006. Find the record’s full track list below and watch the lyric video for the LP’s lead single, “Bury Our Friends,” above. Sleater-Kinney have also announced a tour that begins in February of next year.
