Sigur Ros Prepares New Album

From deep in the heart of Reykjavik, Sigur Ros is putting the finishing touches on a new album, due out in September. The band plans to release an as-yet-unnamed MP3 single online in August. According to Sigur Ros’ official website, the majority of the eleven tracks off the new album will be in the band’s native tongue: Icelandic. On past albums, Sigur Ros has sung in English and a made-up dialect they called “Hopelandic.” The forthcoming release will be their fourth album released in the U.S.

Sigur Ros formed in 1994 when bandmembers Jon Thor Birgisson, Georg Holm, and Agus were still teenagers. Sigur Ros is currently on an intercontinental tour.
