Hear Shorts’ Sunny, Bummer Beauty ‘Berlin 1971’

shorts, berlin 1971, Mikael Caterer

Mikael Caterer, guitarist for Brooklyn-based slacker-pop crew Scott & Charlene’s Wedding, has gone solo for his own project, Shorts. On March 18, the Australian native — who also teaches kindergarten in the NYC neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant — will release Shorts’ debut EP, Berlin 1971, through Aloe Music. The upcoming 7-inch was recorded with the help of Woods member Jarvis Taveniere (who also produced Quilt’s recent Held in Splendor LP) and features Jonah Maurer (Real Estate, Free Time, Titus Andronicus) on bass, Dylan Shumaker (Woodsman, Alex Bleeker and the Freaks) on drums, and fellow Aussie Adrian Tregonning on guitar and keys.

Sneak a glimpse at the four-song set by streaming the title track from Berlin 1971, a sweet slice of bummed-out tropical-pop.
