See Passion Pit’s Somewhat NSFW High-Society ‘Constant Conversations’ Video

Synth-pop group Passion Pit have timed the release of their new video for “Constant Conversations” to Gossamer‘s No. 4 debut on the Billboard chart today (how convenient!). It’s a hazy, cinematic clip that seems a bit like a Peter Bogdonavich flick, which is fitting since the director costars in it with Pit boss Michael Angelakos. It also stars actress-model-Boomkat singer Taryn Manning and and 2008 America’s Next Top Model contestant Analeigh Tipton. The song, which Pitchfork reports producer Rick Rubin pushed Angelakos to make, is a down-tempo, almost soul-like number with handclaps, a feel-good piano line and some resplendent “oh-oh-oh” sing-along moments.

The video — which is directed by Dori Oskowitz, who has done clips for Raphael Saadiq and Ke$ha among others — looks like a scene out of The Great Gatsby or maybe a Hamptons wedding, with silver-collar types dressed in suits and upscale casual wear, as people laze about a fountain in the grass of some expansive estate. Children dance, Bogdonavich looks at people judgmentally, and a snake emerges from a bathtub. One scene shows a naked woman taking a shower (behind glass) and at some point or another everyone seems to hook up with everyone else, but mostly it all seems a look into how the other half (of the one percent) lives.
