The 'My Life II' groove is so right, not even a stripper-pole video can mess it up

“Bad boys ain’t no good / Good boys ain’t no fun.” This instantly memorable couplet opens “Mr. Wrong,” the current video selection from Mary J. Blige’s new My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act I). The freshly Oscar-shortlisted and Golden Globe-nominated vocal powerhouse turned up on cable TV last night for VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul, but any channel with music in its DNA couldn’t go wrong screening this gorgeously lovelorn electro-R&B slinker. The video has a tastefully deployed stripper pole and some synchronized dance moves, but mostly stays out of the way of the song, appearing here without the verse from Mr. Wrong himself, a.k.a. Take Care auteur Drake. Too busy drunk-dialing to make the video shoot?
