Screaming Females Announce ‘Ugly’ LP, Are Not Going to Talk About Steve Albini

All those photos of Screaming Females in the studio with Steve Albini were leading up to something concrete: The band’s April 3 release of fifth album Ugly on Don Giovanni Records. First single “It All Means Nothing” is coming at you February 11 as a 7″ at Don Giovanni Records’ showcase at Brooklyn, New York’s Music Hall of Williamsburg, a gig that launches a brief record store tour that’ll see the New Brunswick, New Jersey trio playing seven consecutive days.

Since a lot of early talk about Ugly has centered around the man behind the boards, frontwoman/guitarist Marissa Paternoster wanted to clear up a few things. “I’ve read a few interviews with other bands that have recorded with Steve Albini, and it seems like most music journalists are only interested in discussing Steve’s infamous temper and remarkable career,” she says. “We really enjoyed working with Steve, he did an absolutely amazing job and we enjoyed his company immensely, but this record is ours. I’m not particularly interested in discussing the details of what went on during our time at Electrical Audio and I’m sure that Steve Albini wouldn’t be interested in it either.”
