Scissor Sisters: Watch Dum Dum Girls' Snippy 'Coming Down' Video

Dum Dum Girls
Marc Hogan

Dum Dum Girls first turned heads for their fuzzy homemade garage-pop, but last year's sophomore album Only in Dreams continued to expand the band's sonic palette. The most striking example is the slow-burner "Coming Down," a hazy makeout ballad that made the recent return of Mazzy Star all the more necessary. Stereogum points (via Disco Naïveté) to the song's new high-concept video, which shows frontwoman Kristin "Dee Dee" Gundred in black and white as her clothes get gradually snipped off with scissors in a nod to Yoko Ono's "Cut Piece." Dum Dum Girls bassist Malia James, who has hosted the online music interview video series Dirty Laundry and also played in Marnie Stern's live band, directs — you could say she has the final cut. Zing!
