Scissor Sisters' Share the Love for NYC

It Happened Last Night

Dance-pop fashionistas Scissor Sisters held court over dancing queens and kings on Saturday at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Like knights in sparkling armor, the band denounced the city's oppressive cabaret laws and charged through a jubilant, boogie-heavy set. The disco revivalists played such Tah-Dah gems as "She's My Man," "Kiss You Off" and "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'" as well as previous hits like "Tits on the Radio," "Laura" and "Take Your Mama." When he wasn't sashaying and stripping onstage, singer Jake Shears charmed the crowd with his far-reaching falsetto and tales of purchasing anal lube in London. Meanwhile vocalist Ana Matronic, decked out in sequined eveningwear, acted as the show's unofficial MC and delivered plenty of hilarious, expletive-filled monologues of her own. But all the layers of discarded clothing and glitter couldn't mask the Sisters' delight in returning to New York for a hometown show, which they declared as one of their best in recent memory. "We are so incredibly blessed to be living in a city like this," affirmed Matronic. GINNY YANG / PHOTOS BY DAVE GUSTAV
