Scissor Sisters Inspired by Sir Paul

Jake Shears thinks about music even in slumber: The Scissor Sisters’ lead singer was inspired by a dream he had to write a song about Paul McCartney. According to the U.K. website, playlouder.com, Shears nearly “wet his knickers” when he met Sir McCartney at London’s Live 8 shows. He told Paul to stay tuned for the Scissors Sisters’ song which he inspired. The Beatles are so influential at this point that they transcend singers’ consciousness.

Meanwhile, tonight the Sisters play their last of three “secret” shows at New York’s relatively tiny Mercury Lounge, this time with indie buzz band du jour Clap Your Hands Say Yeah handling opening duties. But you wouldn’t know that disco rock’s leading act was on the bill on a stroll past Mercury’s front door: The Sisters have been billed under pseudonyms like Bridget Jones’ Diarrhea, Portion Control, and Megapussi, which we discovered means “super-size” in Finnish.
