Nas sounds like he’s doing pretty well coming off of his much deserved victory lap for Illmatic‘s 20th anniversary. The iconic Queens MC now appears on occasional tourmate ScHoolboy Q’s smokey “Studio” remix, heard below, seemingly simply checking and telling us what he’s been up to. Though his opening verse isn’t top-of-the-line Nas by any means, as Stereogum points out, it does verbally tease a new album and single coming soon (for which he has no lack of label options, it’d seem). The good news for Nas keeps coming, in that he appears to be plotting a vacation.
The standout line? “When Belly‘s on TV, it’s the only time I receive your texts.” Which leaves us wondering whether he’s saying this to Q or someone else. Regardless, ScHoolboy’s got good reason to be happy too. Without doubt, 2014 has been his year, and Oxymoron is still sitting high on our building best-of-2014 list.
