The Scene from the View

Showgoers at Manhattan’s Mercury Lounge last night met the latest buzz band from across the pond, the View. Fresh off inking a deal with Columbia Records, the Scottish rock band performed for the beyond-packed venue on its first-ever official U.S. outing. Armed with thick accents and Libertines-fueled energy, the upstarts belted out music mature beyond their years. In “Wasteland,” the View showcased their ability at crafting highly addictive, melodic pop songs injected with rollicking rhythms, and in upcoming single “Same Jeans,” singer Kyle Falconer admits he’s been wearing a single pair of jeans for four days but doesn’t mind hitting the disco. We’d still dance with him. ELIE Z. PERLER / PHOTOS BY WILLIAM GOODMAN
