The band that penned the first rock-concept album about bed hopping your way to manhood is going on tour: Say Anything will perform their debut album, Say Anything…Is a Real Boy, on the road this March. The band cancelled a jaunt with Saves the Day and Senses Fail in late-2005 as frontman Max Bemis battled some psychological issues. At the time, Bemis posted a lengthy message to fans on his band’s website that offered explanations for the nixed tour. “[T]hese obstacles were merely a price paid to reach certain realizations about me having to be medicated all the time,” Bemis wrote. “If your goal is to have us be able to healthily and consistently tour and make a killer follow up to our record then BARE [sic] WITH ME.”
The tour kicks off on March 1 at the waning CBGBs in New York, and wraps up at Long Island’s Live Trax on March 26. In the middle of the tour, Say Anything will stop down Texas way to play a number of shows at South by Southwest. Say Anything…Is a Real Boy was originally released in 2004, but is being re-released with an additional disc of demos called Say Anything…Was a Real Boy. The double album comes out Feb. 28.
