Watch Sampha’s Intimate, Mournful ‘Happens’ Video

sampha, happens, single

Sampha recently teased his new double-A-side single by sharing a solo version of “Too Much,” a tender ballad that supplies the hook to Drake’s penultimate Nothing Was the Same confessional. Now, the London singer has unveiled “Happens,” the second piece of his latest release, which is out now through U.K. label Young Turks. As seen above, the track comes — just as “Too Much” did — with a set of visuals directed, produced, and edited by Cherise Payne and shot by Jake Cizic. Seated at a piano, Sampha hides in the shadows, but stays honest in the darkness. “Well, I don’t have the answers,” he croons. “So I won’t tell you lies / You were down when I was down, love / But you’ve got to live your own life.”

The “Too Much”/”Happens” digital single is currently available for purchase via iTunes. To pre-order the 7-inch vinyl, which drops on January 6, head over to Young Turks. And to see what Drake’s been up to lately, watch Drizzy’s just-released video for “Worst Behavior,” featuring Juciy J, as well as Drake’s dad and uncle.
