Sam Smith Shrugs Off Success in ‘Money on My Mind’ Video

Sam Smith 'Money on My Mind' Video

After winning ears the world over with his Disclosure collaboration “Latch,” Sam Smith is prepping a debut album, In the Lonely Hour, for a May 26 release. The 21-year-old British songbird now shares that set’s second single — following the suave “Safe With Me” — and the new track mixes shuffling dance-pop with yearning soul and R. Kelly-style R&B. Dubbed “Money on My Mind,” the song finds Smith singing about not getting caught up in his newfound success — he’s doing it “for the love,” not the dollars.

The video above plays off of that theme by placing our hero in one of the most cash-obsessed places on the planet, Las Vegas. While Smith’s travels take him to the gambling capital’s more humble locales, we see footage of slick dudes whooping it up at strip clubs and casinos.
