Ryan Adams couldn’t help but honor Ronnie James Dio the only way he knew how — by writing music.
The recently metal-obsessed singer/songwriter announced via Facebook that “11 new solo tunes came out of nowhere” after Dio’s death and memorial service.
“Day after Dio’s funeral [the songs] just fell out,” he wrote. “Soft mellow acoustic jams — lots of New Orleans scenery and vibe from the trip… I am official[ly] very excited again.”

Adams, 35, who dropped the sci-fi metal concept album Orion last month, was one of the many musicians who attended Dio’s memorial service on May 31, posting on Facebook that the event was “epic, beautiful and heartwarming.”
