Rufus Wainwright on ‘Rollins’ Tonight

Tonight (June 8), former Black Flag frontman, eloquent and electrified punk divinity, and robust performing cultural critic Henry Rollins resumes the sophomore season of his weekly late night residency on IFC with the ninth episode of The Henry Rollins Show. And theatrical singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright has decided to drop in and school Rollins in the pleasures of somber, tranquil sonics with a number from Release the Stars, Wainwright’s latest LP.

Beginning at 11 P.M. EST/8 P.M. PST on IFC, Rollins will serve up a diverse and compelling palette of urgent interviews and musical gigs, satisfied by renowned actor Don Cheadle and Wainwright, respectively. Offering a characteristic, heartfelt and measured performance, Wainwright soothes through the cabaret-esque intonations and piano bounce of “Going to a Town.”

Check out a snippet of the Rufus Wainwright’s performance pulled from tonight’s episode and don’t forget to tune in. With a diverse cast ranging from the one of the silver screen’s finest to recording artists each representing opposing ends of the musical spectrum, viewers could be in for an entertaining episode.
