Early this morning, two men were shot outside of Brooklyn’s Rough Trade following the conclusion of a Freddie Gibbs concert. According to the New York Post, one victim, age 29, was shot in the leg and the other, age 33, in his hand after a gunman allegedly attempted to attack the rapper himself at 1:13 a.m. Both victims are expected to survive, and were transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition following the shooting.

The Post‘s timeline shows Gibbs leaving the club shortly after 1 a.m., at which point an unnamed man — who, according to surveillance footage, had spent the evening trying to blend into the rapper’s entourage inside the Williamsburg record store and performance space — ran up to his car and fired several shots. There’s no word on the shooter’s whereabouts, though he was spotted fleeing by foot on Ninth Street.

“They tried to kill Tupac. They tried to kill me,” Gibbs said to reporters on the scene shortly after the incident. “I’m still alive.” Gothamist notes that this is the only the second shooting in the area’s 94th Precinct in 2014. Earlier this year, Gibbs released Piñata, a critically acclaimed, collaborative album with Madlib.
