Rock Hall Nominees Announced!
News
Greasepaint and tube socks can go a long way. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation this morning announced that KISS -- KISS! -- and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, along with Genesis, LL Cool J, the Hollies, and reggae star Jimmy Cliff are among this year's batch of nominees for induction into the Rock Hall of Fame.

Joining the aforementioned acts on the ballot are ABBA, the Chantels, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, the Stooges, and Donna Summer, all of whom were previously nominated but fell short of the votes necessary for induction. In January, we’ll found out which five from this group of twelve will get the nod. The induction ceremony will take place on March 15, 2010, at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City.
The nomination announcement is the beginning of a busy period for the Hall. On October 29 and 30, performers including Metallica, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and Paul Simon will convene at Madison Square Garden to celebrate the institution's 25th anniversary and, if all goes well, break a record for oldest collective age of performers on one stage at one time.

Sid Bernstein & the hall...A disgraceful snub!
Sid is the most honorable person I ever knew in the music business. The Rascals; Tony Bennett, (at Carnegie Hall;) The Beatles; Stones; The Kinks; Herman's Hermits...and the Moodies, are literally, barely only the "tip of his iceberg." I believe, the bottom-line here is, many of the movers & shakers at the r&r hall, (most notably, hall "founding member," ...Frank Barsalona, who worked under Sid at GAC...) are taking credit for Sid's vision. Each year, Sid is embraced in Liverpool. There, he speaks to the masses. There, at least, they give him his due. You'll find him at FaceBook. There, his friends are trying to raise funds to release a documentary on his life. For Sid...it was never about the money, it was always about the music. At Sid's 'FaceBook' site, you'll find a YouTube link to a preview of Sid's documentary. Sid is a loving father and husband...and a gentleman in every sense of the word. That's the Sid Bernstein I've known and been honored to call "friend," since 1963!
Perhaps, the hall will deem him worthy, posthumously, one day. He's in his 90's now. So, 2020...seems like a safe bet!
Please remember...there'd be a whole lot less music, without "non-performers!" Tell the hall to honor him! Finally, Rightfully!!!
