Athens, Georgia quartet Reptar — who mix new wave-era sensibilities with modern rock/pop instrumentation — will come roaring back this May with their second LP, Lurid Glow. The first transmission from the new album is the single “Ice Black Sand,” which lays enigmatic lyrics (“Night on the coast / Lying on my back / Who doesn’t need a man like that?”) over a sinewy brass hook and strangely swinging beat, erupting into a cacophonous finale that would make classic Psychedelic Furs proud.
