David Letterman might be headed for retirement, but he's not phoning in his enthusiasm for musical guests. Real Estate dropped by the Late Show on Wednesday night and while the five-piece didn't bring the scene-stealing showmanship of, say, Future Islands, the SPIN profile subjects did appear to impress the late-night host with their brisk rendition of "Talking Backwards," the lead single from their latest album, Atlas. Keyboardist Matt Kallman even wore a Late Show t-shirt for the gig, prompting Letterman to say, "Great shirt. Did you get that from your cousin or something?"
