Razorlight Shine on NYC
Fresh from headlining mega-shows for the Queen to opening for the band Queen, U.K. chartbusters Razorlight brought their stadium sound to the intimate Bowery Ballroom last night. The sold-out crowd clutched their brews tight and filled the air with thick accents as shirtless frontman Johnny Borrell pranced around the stage in his leg-hugging white jeans, keeping stage banter to a minimum as his band rocked its way through the majority of its two albums. Razorlight lived up to their name, backed by pulsating strips of light that transmitted a megawatt feel to the anthemic "America" and the punchy "Hold On." The rowdy crowd was treated to an old-fashioned call-and-response during the show's closer, "In the City," as the straight-faced Borrell huddled onstage, culminating his performance fit for any queen.
