After rampant rumors, and a leak last week by a Chicago-based newspaper, the official lineup for Lollapalooza 2008 has been announced, and it’s a whopper. Radiohead, Kanye West, Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Wilco, and the Raconteurs top the bill for alt-rock statesman Perry Farrell’s longtime summer extravaganza, slated to hit Chicago’s Grant Park the weekend of Aug. 1-3.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg: Gnarls Barkley, Bloc Party, the Black Keys, Broken Social Scene, Battles, Mark Ronson, Cat Power, Lupe Fiasco, Love and Rockets, Brazilian Girls, Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks, Explosions in the Sky, Okkervil River, Yeasayer, Black Lips, Dr. Dog, the Whigs, Spank Rock, Brand New, Mates of State, Grizzly Bear, Gogol Bordello, Butch Walker, the Kills, MGMT, Rogue Wave, CSS, the National, Girl Talk, the Gutter Twins, hometown hip-hop heroes the Cool Kids, and many more round out the bill.

“In 2008, we have such a gorgeous array of talent,” festival founder Farrell said in a statement. “The only thing that could be more amazing would be if they could somehow play together. With a little conducting, we could make a lot of sweet music together.”

Advance three-day passes are on sale now at $190 while supplies last, and will then increase to $205. For more informationvisit lollapalooza.com
