R. Kelly Plays a Woman Like a Violin in 2 Chainz-Assisted ‘Kimmel’ Medley

After thrusting and grinding all over Lady Gaga on Saturday Night Live and the 2013 American Music Awards, R. Kelly returned to network TV on December 4 to flash some of his Black Panties. The R&B giant’s next album drops on December 10 via RCA (deluxe bundles come with an actual pair of black panties, natch), and the Chicago smooth-talker promoted the LP on Jimmy Kimmel Live! by playing a medley of tracks. Kellz opened with the bedroom boast “Genius,” made complete with a rhinestone-studded Phantom of the Opera mask on his face and a lady on his lap, cuddled up to look like a human violin; 2 Chainz then dropped in to assist with an abridged version of “My Story”; and R. Kelly closed the set by pivoting into the Auto-Tuned pep talk “You Deserve Better.”

Watch the footage above, stream all of Black Panties here, and check out IFC on Saturday, December 7 — the network is airing all 33 chapters of Trapped in the Closet as part of a marathon that kicks off at 5:15 p.m. EST. And for a dramatic reading of the lyrics to “Genius,” watch actor Benedict Cumberbatch recite R. Kelly’s pledge to “hit that thing again.”
