Queens of the Stone Age keep revealing tiny glimpses of upcoming album ...Like Clockwork. They keep getting away with it because each glimpse is more attention-getting than the last. As Saturday night turned into Sunday morning, QOTSA previewed 30 seconds of the video for "I Appear Missing," the second song to emerge from the new record (due out June 4 via Matador Records). Now comes the full video, which Matador says contains a three-minute portion of a longer album track.

The song, as this longer preview confirms, is a surging midtempo rock anthem, wracked with booze, heartache, and top-notch musicianship. "It's only falling in love because you hit the ground," frontman Josh Homme sings at a crucial moment. The video, featuring images from ...Like Clockwork visual artist Boneface and animation by Liam Brazier, keeps the music well within the sinister desert-scape of previous materials for the album. A suit-wearing, zombie-like man with "wake up" written in blood on his white shirt floats over a barren, post-apocalyptic scene. All right, guys: We're awake.
