Queen Guitarist Rocks for Rock Climbing

Queen guitarist Brian May has lent his mountainous guitar solos for the score to The Alps, a forthcoming IMAX film documenting American rock climber John Harlin III as he ascends the Eiger North Face, the same mountain that took his father’s life. For the film’s score, May teamed with musical composer Steve Wood for orchestrated re-arrangements of Queen tracks such as “Who Wants to Live Forever,” “It’s a Beautiful Day,” and “Bijou” as well as providing guitar work on original material. “Brian’s soaring style took the emotional level up a notch and made everything fit — that’s where the seam became seamless,” says Wood.

MacGillvray Freeman Films, who have worked Sting, the Moody Blues, and Crosby, Stills, and Nash on other adventure/nature films, will produce the doc, which is slated to hit theaters this spring and summer.
