Hold It Against Meme: PSY Teaches Britney Spears ‘Gangnam Style’ Dance

Ellen DeGeneres never misses an opportunity to make history via dance. She got down with the President to Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love” and taught a gaggle of middle-aged women to “Crank That” with help from Soulja Boy himself, and now she’s bested herself by enlisting K-Pop phenom PSY to teach Britney Spears his virally unstoppable “Gangnam Style” dance.

“[The] mindset of this dance is dress classy, and dance cheesy,” PSY explained after surprising Spears and fellow Ellen guest Simon Cowell by emerging from a wall and bucking across the stage as if he was both a bronco and the intrepid cowboy perched precariously atop. He took one look at Brit in her high heels and gave her all the direction she needed :”Bounce like you’re riding an invisible horse.”

This meeting of the minds wasn’t exactly unprecedented. Last month, Spears hit Twitter to praise the satirical video, which is now up to 144 million views on YouTube, writing: “I am LOVING this video – so fun! Thinking that I should possibly learn the choreography. Anybody wanna teach me?! haha.” She turned out to be a fast learner, although Ellen was firmly in the saddle too. Cowell passed.
