Watch Prince Shred ‘Something in the Water’ With New Power Generation

Prince has been doing his thing long enough and gone through so many transformations that even his most loyal fans can disagree over his best work. But if there’s one element of the Purple One’s repertoire that’s never been up for debate, it’s his ability to shred. Above, you can witness the Minneapolis man in all of his blazing glory as he destroys his flame-broiled guitar while wearing a vest apparently borrowed from The Hobbit‘s prop closet.

This is exactly as it should be, of course, as Prince & the New Power Generation perform “Something in the Water (Does Not Compute)” from his 1982 classic, 1999. The clip comes from the band’s three-show holiday run at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. And yes, if your fandom overlaps with the 1992 film, The Last of the Mohicans, there’s another reason to be excited — Prince’s ax-swinging would put Magua to shame.
