Prince to Dispatch ‘Planet Earth’

Following his purple reign over this year’s Super Bowl, Prince has announced details, albeit few, for his 24th studio album titled Planet Earth. The worldly dubbed effort, an apparent theme also undertaken by the Smashing Pumpkins in one form or another, will release in the U.S. July 24 and one week earlier, July 16, to the remainder of, well, Planet Earth. The kind folks over at Columbia, Prince’s newfound label following that tongue-twisting, symbol debacle over at Sony, will release Planet Earth and “Guitar,” the record’s first single will hit radio waves June 11.

In addition, psychedelic funk duo Wendy & Lisa, once dubbed as Prince “protégés,” appear on the new album alongside other yet-to-be identified collaborators. U.K. based fans can catch Prince as he kicks off his world tour in London with a 15-date residency at the city’s O2 Arena.
