‘Portlandia': See TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe Dis Fred
Armisen claims they're friends, but the Brooklyn music-maker says otherwise
Considering Portlandia is a show created by musicians-turned-actors, it’s no surprise that Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein frequently deliver the goods where cameos are concerned. But it’s a rarity to score a soundman with legit acting chops as well. Enter TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe, who has an all-too-brief appearance in the IFC show’s most recent episode. He plays himself in the video above, but he’s showed his range in feature films including Jump Tomorrow and Rachel Getting Married. He’s also currently at work on his main band’s fifth album, and has been putting in some time with side project Higgins Waterproof Black Magic Band as well. Oh, and Subtle dude Doseone has recently been tweeting about the long-lost Nevermen trio amassing the talents of himself, Adebimpe, and Mike Patton. For more on Portlandia, though, check out SPIN’s brand new interview with Armisen and Brownstein. And if that’s not enough, here’s a recap of their recent Reddit AMA.
