Portishead Book First Gig in Ten Years

Portishead — Geoff Barrow, Beth Gibbons, and Adrian Utley — have been confirmed as both curators and performers for All Tomorrow’s Parties’ Nightmare Before Christmas event December 7-9 at Butlin’s Holiday Camp in Minehead in Somerset, South Wales, U.K. The trio’s performance will be their first full live set in nearly ten years and fans are ready: Since Portishead posted two new tracks to their MySpace profile last August, web surfers have played “Greek Jam” and “Key Bored 299 03” over 1.7 million times.

“We have always loved the All Tomorrow’s Parties set up and we’re happy our first shows will be there. It’s great to have the opportunity to introduce bands we love or have influenced us,” Portishead posted on MySpace. “We’ve chosen a diverse collection of artists to play with us and we’re really looking forward to it.” Details regarding Portishead’s “diverse collection” of performing artists have yet to be announced, but will soon be posted to both the band’s MySpace.com profile and All Tomorrow’s Parties’ web site.
