Hear Porches. Dish on Sad Sex and Suicide Wishes on ‘Headsgiving’

Porches.

Porches. occupy a space between what frontman Aaron Maine calls “booty clap” and “sad rock.” To wit, the opening line off “Headsgiving,” the first track from the Brooklyn quintet’s upcoming full-length debut: “I give you head / Before you head to therapy.” Maine doesn’t lighten up much afterwards, either. As the track’s supple guitar and ramshackle drums beat on, he sings about statutory rape, wanting to die, and the cyclical, spiraling nature of depression! Porches.’ first LP, Slow Dance in the Cosmos, arrives August 27 via Exploding In Sound Records. Until then, sample “Headsgiving” below.
