Since someone had the good sensibility to revive VH1's ever-illuminating Pop-Up Video, without which we might not know exact what role NYC downtown artist Jean-Michel Basquiat plays in Blondie's "Rapture" clip, the series has been focusing on some more modern videos by artists like Rilo Kiley and Vampire Weekend. Their recent look at Arcade Fire's Spike Jonze-helmed ode to teenage anxiety, "The Suburbs," again proves there is more than meets the eye. As Stereogum points out, who knew the video shared a Dairy Queen with Friday Night Lights? And what about the equation that "Wool masks + high temperatures = vomiting"?
