Pink will perform at the 86th annual Academy Awards set to air live on ABC, Sunday, March 2. “Big news!!!” the Truth About Love star tweeted on Friday, February 21. “I’d like to thank @TheAcademy for inviting me to perform on the #Oscars on March 2nd!! #holycow.” Of course, she shouldn’t be surprised — she had the third highest grossing tour last year, and her genuinely death-defying performances have become standard at awards shows.
To wit, at the Grammys she teamed with Cirque du Soleil for an aerial acrobatic performance of “Try” that ended in her landing on the stage in time to sing “Just Give Me a Reason” alongside fun. guy Nate Ruess. She also has a history of acting. The woman born Alecia Moore played a sex addict opposite Gwyneth Paltrow and Mark Ruffalo in Thanks for Sharing last year, and voiced an emperor penguin named Gloria in Happy Feet Two in 2011.
