Phil Spector Sentenced to 19 Years for Murder

After being found guilty last month of the 2003 murder of actress Lana Clarkson, famed music producer and former Beatles collaborator Phil Spector was sentenced to 19 years to life in prison Friday, the AP reports.

A Los Angeles judge gave Spector 15 years to life for second-degree murder, as well as four years for personal use of a gun.Spector was also ordered to pay $16,811 in funeral expenses and $9,740 to a state victims’ fund, among other fees.

In a statement made before sentencing, Donna Clarkson, mother of the slain actress, said, “I’m very proud of Lana, proud to be her mother.No one should suffer the loss of a child.”
