Phil Collins Quits Music, Garbage Plans LP + More

  • Phil Collins has announced he will be quitting music for good, citing health issues like hearing problems, dislocated vertebra, and nerve damage, which have made playing drums difficult, as reasons for his retirement. "I don't really belong to that world, and I don't think anyone's going to miss me," he said. [FHM, via Time]

  • Garbage are aiming to release their comeback album this summer -- the band's first since 2005's Bleed Like Me. In a Facebook post, singer Shirley Manson said the group is back in the studio working out a final track selection. "Dare I say we will have something finished by this summer?!?!?!?!" she wrote.

The British rockers -- who released the new song "Brick by Brick" last week - will also be headlining New York City's Central Park SummerStage on May 24, according to a press release.
