Pharrell Williams and Kanye West have teamed up to record “Number 1,” the scorching lead single from Pharrell’s forthcoming solo record, In My Mind. It’s a slinky, soulful, midtempo jam, perfect for getting close on the dance floor. With little xylophone twinkles and sexy synths, this instant classic recalls old school club hits of yore, like Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You.” And of course, with Pharrell and Kanye sharing production credits, it’s hardly boastful for the duo to call this one “Number 1.” Pharrell’s In My Mind hits stores July 25, and the video for “Number 1” premieres next week on BET.
