Pearl Jam Celebrated John Lennon’s Birthday With Two Classic Covers

Eddie Vedder Pearl Jam John Lennon Imagine Cover Video

Over the course of his career with Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder has offered a handful of recorded tributes to the legacy of John Lennon, so it’s no secret that the Lightning Bolt singer is a big fan. Friday night, he made good on that longtime fandom and offered up a striking tribute in honor of what would have been the Beatles founder’s 74th birthday. The Seattle quintet paused in the midst of their Lincoln, Nebraska set to offer up the Beatles’ “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away” and Lennon’s solo classic “Imagine.” Studio versions of both are available, the former thanks to the soundtrack of the 2001 film I Am Sam and the latter thanks to a recent cover for charity. You can watch video of “Imagine” above and “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away” below via Consequence of Sound, alongside video of a location-specific cover of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska track “Open All Night.”
