Pearl Jam Announce Tour Dates

Pearl Jam have announced a handful of North American shows behind their new album,Backspacer, out Sept. 20.

After three festival appearances in August, the tour kicks off proper-like with a pair of dates in band’s hometown in September. But it seems EdVed and Co. have some serious love for Los Angeles, scheduling a four-night residency at the Gibson Amphitheatre. Don’t fret, Seattleites, you still have these guys!

Ben Harper and Relentless7 will open all shows, minus the tour-closing Philadelphia dates.

As you may recall, Pearl Jam premiered a powerful, angst-ridden rocker for Conan O’Brien on his first night as host of NBC’s Tonight Show. Watch the performance here.

Backspacer, PJ’s ninth studio album, will be released in a deal with retail chain Target — but if you have a debilitating fear of push carts and bull’s-eyes, you’re in luck: the record will also be available via the band’s fan site, Ten Club, and select independent record stores. “Target ended up allowing us to have other partners,” explained PJ’s manager Kelly Curtis. “We’ll be able to take care of all levels of the Pearl Jam fan… Target was cool enough to realize that little independent record stores are not their competition.”
