Paramore Do 'Transformers,' New Lips Music + More

  • While they work on their new album, Paramore have announced they will contribute a new song to the soundtrack Transformers: Dark of the Moon. My Chemical Romance, Mastodon, and Linkin Park are also contributing songs to the set, which will hit stores in June. [Paramore]

  • Flaming Lips have released more collaborative recordings with unlikely musicians. The latest: Wayne Coyne and Co. teaming up with Prefuse 73's Guillermo Scott Herren for four free-form, psychedelic experiments. Head to Consequence of Sound to stream the tracks.

  • D.C. post-punk faves The Dismemberment Plan will release their first live album on June 1. The 23-track Live in Japan 2011 captures the group at a Tokyo gig from their reunion tour this past February. [Bad News Records]

  • Magnetic Fields' mastermind Stephin Merritt will release a collection of rarities and outtakes titled Obscurities on August 23. The collection features material written prior to the group's classic album 69 Love Songs, outtakes ("The Sun and the Sea and the Sky"), and material from an unfinished science fiction musical that Merritt co-wrote with author Daniel Handler (a.k.a.   • New York dance-punk kings the Rapture will return with a new album on September 6. In the Grace of Your Love, which will be released by James Murphy's DFA label, was co-produced by Philippe Zdar, who mixed Phoenix's smash Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. [The Rapture]

  • Instrumental rockers Explosions in the Sky have announced a 23-date fall tour, after playing a string of European festivals this summer and Bonnaroo next month. The trek kicks off September 1 in Tucson, AZ and wraps up October 13 in Oklahoma City, OK. Wye Oak will open on select dates. [Explosions in the Sky]

  • Neo-soul singer Mayer Hawthorne has inked a major label deal with Universal Republic. His first album for them, titled How Do You Do, is due out this Fall. [Reuters]
