The Pains of Being Pure at Heart Remain ‘Simple and Sure’ on Joyous New Single

pains of being pure at heart, simple and sure, days of abandon

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have ended their lengthy silence by sharing the first single from their upcoming third album, Days of Abandon. “Simple and Sure” tones down the fuzz found on the Brooklyn band’s formidable sophomore effort, 2011’s Belong, and instead relies on a refreshing blend of jangly melodies, popping handclap percussion, and buoyant vocals. “I didn’t want to make Belonger,” singer-guitarist Kip Berman says in a statement. “This album was a chance to step back from that universal style of songwriting to something that was far more personal, more in keeping with my original ideals. I wanted the music to be joyful and full of light, even if the subjects were often dark.”

Days of Abandon was produced by Andy Savours (My Bloody Valentine, the Killers, Patrick Wolf) and is set to arrive on April 22 via Yebo Music. Find “Simple and Sure” below, followed by the Pains of Being Pure at Heart’s tour dates.
