Omar Souleyman Announces New Album Featuring Production By Modeselektor and Four Tet

Syrian singer Omar Souleyman just announced a new album, Bahdeni Nami, for this summer. For his second proper studio release, Souleyman is teaming up with producers like Four Tet, Gilles Peterson, and Modeselektor, whose label Monkeytown just signed Souleyman. According to a press release, the album was recorded in Istanbul, with some of Souleyman’s favorite collaborators  — poet Ahmad Alsamer, saz player Khaled Youssef, and keyboardist Rizan Said. The projuect will also include remixes by the Black Lips’ Cole Alexander and Legowelt. Listen to the lead single, which combines Souleyman’s wild, traditional style with Modeselektor’s bumpin’ production, below. Bahdeni Nami is set for a July 28 release date.
