Although over ten years have passed since the murder of New York City rapper the Notorious B.I.G., a.k.a. Christopher Wallace, the plot surrounding his mysterious death continues to thicken as Waymond Anderson, a prison inmate who implicated a former Los Angeles Police Department officer in the murder, has come forward saying he lied about the officer's involvement, LATimes.com reports. Anderson, a former R&B artist currently behind bars serving life for an unrelated murder, said in a recent deposition that he lied as part of a scam coordinated with Wallace's family and attorney to claim money from the City of Los Angeles. Wallace's mother, Volleta, and her lawyer, one Perry R. Sanders Jr., had filed suit against the city seeking wrongful death damages, and according Anderson, he was to receive a unspecified amount of the money for stating former police Officer Rafael Perez told him that ex-police officer, David Mack, was involved.

"I don't know David Mack, I don't know Rafael Perez," Anderson said in the deposition. The two officers "had no involvement with the... murder," Anderson said under oath, continuing and stating, "It was a lie, and I'm ashamed of it," and, "I did what I had to do to survive." Speaking to LATimes.com, Perry R. Sanders Jr. said, "This is wholesale, made-up-out-of-whole-cloth perjury."
