Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds ‘No Who U R’ and Will Elegantly Threaten U

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds' "We No Who U R"

It gets better. Except sometimes it gets worse. When Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds unveiled the track list last week for February 19 album Push the Sky Away, the opening song title stood out for its similarity to Ke$ha’s Cannibal affirmation “We R Who We R.” Now the Australian band has shared a lyric video for “We No Who U R,” available instantly as a digital download with pre-orders of Push the Sky Away, and while the debonair brooder keeps any Glittery One connections close to its black-velvet vest, the ominous intent dangles right there from its magicianly sleeves. “We know who you are / And we know where you live / And we know there’s no need to forgive,” the erstwhile Grinderman frontman intones somberly, backed by an uncrowded yet ornate arrangement of whispery vocal harmonies, spidery electric guitar trills, and stark flute tones. Cave and the Bad Seeds are who they are, and they know it well. But the Warrior princess could still be forgiven for checking the locks an extra time or two at night after she hears this one.
