New Track from Chin Up Chin Up

Hey, This Is Awesome!

Chicago avant-indie pop quintet Chin Up Chin Up's "Islands Sink" from This Harness Can't Ride Anything (out Oct. 10) boasts the band's trademark grainy reverb and wavering vocals, but there's still something contagiously sugary about the song. Singer/guitarist Jeremy Bolen knows exactly what to attribute its sweetness to: "The band ate so many Starbursts, they sweated pink during [recording] sessions," he told SPIN.com. Bouncy guitar riffs and chiming melodies might also have something to do with it, and fatalistic lines about sinking islands can't help but succumb to complex and treat-like instrumentation.
