New Stream: Butch Walker, "Going Back/Going Home"

Find out why this mega-producer-cum-songwriter is moving to the other side of the soundboard.

Butch Walker

Aside from the moderate success of his mid-'90s projects, notably Marvelous 3, singer/songwriter and producer extraordinaire Butch Walker has spent much of his career behind the scenes, writing and producing for chart-busting acts like Fall Out Boy, All-American Rejects, Avril Lavigne, Pink, the Academy Is…, and even Lindsey Lohan. But now, with his forthcoming album Sycamore Meadows, Walker is again ready to step into the spotlight. "Going Back/Going Home," a folk-tinged crooner lush in banjos and mandolin, is a decided departure from his previous modern rock material and only adds credence to Walker's versatility and songwriting knack.

Love Butch, his music moves me, which is what real music should do. I can understand the lyrics which is more then i can say for everything on the radio these days. He is a real artist and works hard, God Bless him and may success follow him wherever he goes. We are blessed to hear his music as he has been through alot and done alot so lets sit back and enjoy the fruits of his labor. THANK YOU BUTCH!!!!

"Spent much of his career behind the scenes"? Aside from being a member of Southgang, and M3, he has had quite a successful career as a solo artist from his CD's, i.e., "Left of Self-Centered", "Letters", "Heartwork", "Cover Me Badd (EP)", "This is me, Justified and Stripped", "The Rise and Fall of Butch Walker and the Let's Go Out Tonites", "Leavin' the Game on Luckie Street" and 2 DVD's; "Live at Budokan" and the video version of Luckie Street. Let's not forget that some songs from his CD's have made it into movies such as "Me, Myself, and Irene" and "The Hot Chick". To state that he spends more time producing is a severe downplay of his talent and a stab at his career in general. So, he produces to pay the bills (his words) but his "job" is playing/ singing/recording. Yes, he's underrated and underappreciated, but please don't equate his lack of airplay to being "behind the scenes". All hail, B-dub. Rock on.
