Chicago's avant-pop collective Bound Stems have been amassing buzz sing they dropped their superbly unnerving debut EP, The Logic of Building the Body Plan, and that release's full-length follow-up, Appreciation Night, features some similarly ambitious tracks. Standout numbers include "Wake Up, Ma and Pa Are Gone," which was also featured on the EP, and "Lemon Swamp," an unwieldy and unpredictable track. It begins with building fuzz and a conversation snippet that seems unintended for outside listeners' ears before Bobby Gallivan's softly earnest and raspy vocals, noisy drum taps, and driving guitar lines take over.
