New Snoop Record Out June 27, Fo’ Shizzle

You might say Snoop has been distracted as of late, launching a line of dog accessories, putting his name behind a hot dog company, and coaching a football team, but this summer, he’s getting back to basics.

Snoop is back with Tha Dogg Pound, including Daz Dillinger and Kurupt, and getting ready to release a new album, Cali Iz Active, on June 27. The album also features B-Real, Busta Rhymes, David Banner, and Paul Wall, and production by Diddy, the Alchemist, Jazzy Fay, Battlecat, and Fredwreck.

“I’m like the quarterback,” Snoop said in a statement, “putting the team together, gluing it together. I’m the one that puts everything in the proper perspective. Get everyone thinking alike, moving alike, loving alike. Let everybody know that it’s built on love first. If we love each other first, the music will kick right in.” The group is slated to open for Ice Cube on his national tour, which kicks off on April 20 in Anaheim, CA and runs through June.

“I’m letting everybody know that the West Coast is definitely making a strong comeback,” Snoop said. “Tha Dogg Pound sound is fresh and fly. It’s a beautiful thing for me to be able to work with them, and when we drop this album it’s gonna shake the whole game up! Chuuch.”
