Eclectic indie pop darlings Of Montreal have released first single "Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse" from Hiss Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? (out Jan. 23), the follow-up to last year's ebullient effort, The Sunlandic Twins. The track dips into dizzying buzz while its breezy melodies are pulled off effortlessly. And because listening to the Athens collective's quirky soundscapes is always a bit of a trip, frontman Kevin Barnes gets all self-reflexive in the song about what's causing the spaz outs: "Chemicals don't murder my pen, Chemicals don't make me sick again / Know you bait me way more than you should / And it's just like you to hurt me when I'm feeling good."
